Dogwood Special Brunch Train

Enjoy nature tourism at its best! Mother Nature puts on a spectacular show here in East Texas during dogwood blooming season and we have created a special brunch train to make this viewing a truly memorable occasion. This train departs from the Palestine Depot at 10:15am and returns around 2:45pm. Tickets: $50 per person.

Rail Fan Photographer’s Special

Tickets: $85 ages 13 and older
Railfans will have the opportunity to photograph a TSRR engine at several locations along the track. Please wear close-toed shoes as you will encounter rough and rural terrain in some locations. Coffee, juice and pastries will be served on board along with drinks throughout the day. Lunch is included and will consist of a ½ lb smoked turkey or BBQ chopped beef sandwich, chip and beverage.
16th Annual Salute to the Armed Forces
Friday, Saturday & Sunday, May 23, 24 & 25
This year’s event has been expanded to three days and will feature the travelling replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall and its accompanying Cost of Freedom Tribute. At 80% the size of the original wall in our nation’s capital, this replica contains every name engraved on the original. The purpose of this annual event is to pay tribute to all branches and all eras of service to our country.
The Patriot Train departs at 10am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm each day for a short, (approximately 1-hour) roundtrip run to the Jarvis Wye and back.
Lone Star Premium Price - $30 for adults, $20 for children 2-12 (children under age 2 ride for free!) and $27 for seniors.
Standard Price - $20 for adults, $15 for children 2-12 (children under age 2 ride for free!) and $18 for seniors.
We want to honor those who have served or are currently serving in the military with a FREE ride on this special train that will be decked out in red, white and blue!

The Teddy Bear’s Train Ride
Friday, August 1
The Teddy Bear’s Train ride departs from the Rusk Depot on Friday, August 1 at 11am and 2:30pm. The train will run to Maydelle where the engine will turn around on our historic 1890’s turntable and then come back to Rusk. The ride will feature special snacks, children’s music, teddy bear coloring book pages and more! Plus there’s an opportunity to meet the entire Beary Family, including Boomer, our 10-year old bear made famous through this summer’s Facebook postings about his many travels and adventures. Children 12 and under who bring their teddy bears will get to ride the train for free.
Pricing for all others is as follows:
$15 Children ages 12 and under with no teddy bear
$20 Seniors, ages 65 and older
$25 Adults, ages 13 to 64
$25 Children ages 12 and under with no teddy bear
$40 Seniors, ages 65 and older
$45 Adults, ages 13 to 64
Blankets and Bears Childrens Fund will be accepting donations of new or gently used teddy bears on this day. All donated bears will be distributed to traumatized children by Palestine Police Officers and Palestine Regional Medical Center.
Moonlight Special Dinner Train
Friday, October 10
All Aboard for the Moonlight Special! This fall-themed dinner train will run on Friday, October 10, on the evening of a full moon. The train will depart from the Palestine Depot at 6:30pm after a reception in the portico at 6pm. Passengers will enjoy a peaceful ride through the East Texas Forest Country to Maydelle and back. Contemporary Catering of Palestine will prepare and serve the meal. (Menu TBA.) Non-alcoholic beverages will also be served. Guests are welcome to BYOB.
Tickets: $65 per person.
Pumpkin Patch Express
Saturdays & Sundays, October 4-5, 11-12, 18-19, 25-26

Pick your own pumpkin, visit Trick or Treat Street, and enjoy a hayride, games, live entertainment and more! Kids don’t forget to wear your costumes! Lunches are not included for this event; a food vendor will be available at the pumpkin patch.

Valentine’s Moonlight Special

Enjoy the unique combination of a full moon occurring on Valentine’s Day! Reception at 6pm in the portico at the Palestine Depot features a lovely array of hors d’oeuvres and non-alcoholic sparkling wine. Passengers on this romance-themed dinner train will enjoy a peaceful ride through the East Texas Forest Country to Maydelle and back, beneath the glow of a full moon. Contemporary Catering of Palestine will prepare and serve a scrumptious meal. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be served. Guests are welcome to BYOB.
Tickets: $75 per person.
Reception 6-6:30pm in the Portico at the Palestine Depot:
A display of fruit, cheese and crackers served under the gazebo before the train leaves, along with non-alcoholic sparkling wine.
