Texas State Railroad Campgrounds

Come camp and ride the train at the Texas State Railroad!

Nestled in the piney woods of East Texas our campgrounds offer the unique experience to stay onsite at a historic railroad. There is nothing like waking up to the sound of one of our steam engines coming down the track! We offer camping and picnicking facilities at both of our Rusk and Palestine Depots.

Here’s what both campground locations have to offer:

Rusk Depot Campgrounds

71 camping sites with full hook-up
Group or tent sites each with water and electricity
Picnic tables, grills, fire rings, and restrooms and showers
Campground Office & Store where you can purchase firewood, ice, drinks, snacks, & other items and also checkout our activity equipment.
Activities: 15 acre fishing lake, playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball goals, horseshoes, shuffle board, volleyball, small water feature, & ¼ mile nature trail.

Full hook-up (sites 1-32)	Tent sites (sites 56-71)
$25 plus tax per night—Sites have 30 and 50 amp electrical hook-ups, water/sewer, fire ring, grill, picnic table and access to restrooms and showers. Sites located in wooded area.	$18 plus tax per night—Sites have 30 amp electrical hook-up, water, fire ring, grill, picnic table and access to restroom and showers. Sites located in wooded area. Tent sites limited to small pop-ups and tents.
Group hook-up (sites 33-55)	All sites
$20 plus tax per night—Sites have 30 and 50 amp electrical hook-ups, water, fire ring, grill and access to restroom and showers. Enough room to have an addition tent on site. They are located in a non-wooded area, near Dining Hall. Great for reunions or other gatherings!	Limit of 8 persons and 2 vehicles per site. Trailers are considered vehicles.
Cancellation Fee	Change Fee
$7 per reservation is charged to cancel up to 2 days prior to arrival date. Within 2 days of arrival there are no refunds.	$7 per site is charged to change the date of your camping reservation.

Palestine Depot Campgrounds

Tent and RV sites with water (no electricity), restrooms (no showers) & cooking grills
Activities: ½ mile nature trail, playground, pond, and large park.
Dump station on site

$12 a night	$50 a day—two pavilions available

Just here for the day?

Purchase a Day Use Pass for $2.00 per person. Enjoy a picnic at the depot, fish in our 15-acre lake (Rusk), take a walk on the nature trail, or just enjoy a quiet visit in our park. For avid fishermen or guests who plan to visit frequently throughout the year consider purchasing a yearly pass for $23.00. Passes may be purchased at our campground office in Rusk or you may use the drop box (after hours) located at both campground entrances.
